Sprout Club is our free kid's program (for children aged 5-12) that runs during the school summer break. It is run and designed by a youth we hire through the Canada Summer Jobs grant program and volunteers help facilitate. Every week there is a different food, agriculture, or nature themed activity to help participants learn more about food, growing their own food and plants, and our world. This program promotes independence, problem solving, creativity, and environmental stewardship.
This program was conceived to run in conjunction with the BCAFM coupon program to ensure that families who come to the market to spend their coupons also have other free community building access points for them and their children. However, the program is open to all visitors to the market and is extremely popular. This year is our third season and it has been incredibly well received.
The budget for this program's supplies entirely comes from the fundraising we do the year prior and for the second year in a row we will be doing a silent auction to build the budget for next year's Sprout Club.
Thank you for considering our request and helping us support Sprout Club! We couldn't do it without you!
Please let us know if you have something to donate as soon as possible so we can get organized and start to promote.
